This dining chair was designed during the planning for Blue Bottle Coffee Shibuya Cafe. Consideration was given to its suitability for modern interior, and its suitability as a chair for a café within a park. The result—a casual dining chair that you can sit in comfortably for a long time.

Shibuya Cafe
The Shibuya Cafe Collection has its native setting in Blue Bottle Coffee Shibuya Cafe located in the Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan. The Shibuya Cafe is the sole tenant of a two-story construction within Kitaya Park, which has been renovated to make it a bright park that opens out to its perimeter giving it the feel of a city recreation area.
Same as Case 02, under the direction of one of brand initiator Keiji Ashizawa as lead architect, the tailor-made furniture for the cafe have been realised as extra edition of Karimoku Case 02.

Keiji Ashizawa
Keiji Ashizawa Design is an architecture and product design studio based in Tokyo, Japan. Formed in 2005 by Keiji Ashizawa, the studio is comprised of both architects and designers, all bringing unique skills to the team.
Through logical thinking and open-mindedness, the studio presents works of ‘honest’ design — simple, thoughtful and refined — derived naturally through the process of maximizing the potential of each material. The work of the studio is based on the notion that the sharing of experiences is essential to the creative process, exercised through collaboration on many levels: internally amongst the designers, and in maintaining relationships with clients and other creative professionals to grow, learn and form an evolving dialogue of thought. After graduating from Yokohama National University in 1996, Keiji spent the first ten years of his career working as both an architect and steel fabricator.
